Suggest Treatment For Burning Sensation Of Upper Lip Post Waxing
Doctor, I waxed my upper lip with a wax strip available in the supermarket. I burnt my skin while waxing, the area burns and has left a very dark patch? What is the solution to stop it from burning and treatment for the scar to go away. Thanking you
I understand your concern for burning sensation of upper lip post waxing. It appears from your query that you have developed irritant dermatitis after the application of the wax on the upper lip.
It appears that your wax has caused irritation due to higher temperature than recommended.
I suggest you to do cold compression at the affected area. I most importantly suggest you to not expose yourself to direct sunlight and external environment as it can cause more aggravation of the problem.
I suggest my patients to apply a mild steroid lotion such as fluticasone or mometasone for 3-4 days of period. If I were your treating doctor then would also have suggested to apply calamine lotion to be applied for 3-4 times daily and should be applied at night time.
If you have itching then I would have preferred to give an antihistamine such as loratadine for two times a day for few days. The most important part is avoidance of sun exposure not try to pick the skin.
All the best.
