Suggest Treatment For Burns On The Stomach Due To Splashing Of Hot Oil
My finacee was frying chicken and hot grease accidentally splashed all over his stomach (he was not wearing a shirt). We put cool water on a rag and put the rag on the area for 10-15 minutes. He does not want to go to the hospital and I am not sure what else to do.
Hi. As per your case history of burns, my treatment advice is - 1. Don't scratch the lesion as it may worsen the condition. 2. Apply a mild antibiotic cream like fusiderm cream twice daily on it. 3. Take a NSAID like ibuprofen for 5-7 days. 4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics like levofloxacin, cefadroxil and azithromycin taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
Thanks. Dr. Harshit bhachech. MBBS, DDVL.
