what can you do for a busted eardrum? My husband had an explosion of pool chemicals yesterday and it was loud enough it shook the house. He was standing right at it. His left ear is vibrating when he trys to talk and hurts to hear other noises, so he has been wearing an ear plug to lighten the noise. He says he doesn t have much hearing in that ear either. What should we do?
Well, sudden loud sounds can cause damage to the eardrum and can cause eardrum perforation. So the first thing that you should do is to consult an otorhinolaryngologist and get his ear checked to rule out what exactly has happened. Accordingly the treatment can be planned. For now if pain is severe he can take painkillers to reduce pain, but for complete relief you should get him checked and treated.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
