Suggest Treatment For Chest Congestion And Breathing Difficulty

Phlegm in heart & unable to breathe Male, 86 My grand father is not feeling well from few days. Almost losing control & forgetting things. He even fell in the bathrooms & lost lot of blood due to head in injuries. Yesterday, we was in ICU & doctors thought that everything would be fine and can switch him to normal ward. Today, he cant breathe and he is on ventilator. Doctors are mentioning that my grand father at this stage cant take an operation at back to clean phlegm in heart . The medication process takes time it seems. Can anyone of you please tell me honestly what are his chances of survival( on a scale of 10)? How long can a person be on ventilator??

Hello,

At the age of 86 and with those complaints, possibility of survival is very very rare. Need of ventilator itself suggests poor prognosis and outcome. In my clinical opinion, his chances of survival are 0.1/10. And he can stretch for 2-3 days more ventilator.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
