Suggest Treatment For Chest Pain And Cough.

I just accidentally swallowed part of a scone the wrong way and started coughing it up. I heard that if you don t get it all out, you can get pneumonia. This happened roughly 20 minutes ago and I now have chest pains and am still coughing some. Am I ok?

Thanks for your question on HCM.
I can understand your situation and problem.
Yes, you are right about pneumonia, it is called aspiration pneumonia.
Any foreign body when aspirated and not removed completely can cause inflammatory reaction and swelling in lung. This later on can cause pneumonia.
So better to rule out this at earliest point.
So I advice you to consult pulmonologist and get done bronchoscopic examination and removal of particles if present.
Don't worry, you will be alright.
