Suggest Treatment For Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease

My cousin is 62 yr old female with copd and is on oxygen. It has been 1 week since she has been visiting me and she has not felt good all week. she says she feels she is not getting enough air even with oxygen and when sitting down she feels like the bottom of her lungs is full. She is also very exhausted and has a slight cough.

Pulmonologist 's  Response
Thanks for your question on HCM. In my opinion you should consult pulmonologist first. The treatment of COPD is following.
1. Smoking cessation. It is the main thing in COPD management
2. Enroll in pulmonary rehabilitation programme where chest physiotherapy is available.
3. Inhaled therapy in the form of meter dose inhaler with spacer. Long acting beta 2 agonist (LABA) with Inhaled Corticosteroids (ICS) and Anticholinergic are mainstay of treatment.
4. Pulmonary adult vaccination with pneumococcal anx influenza vaccines.
But first you should consult pulmonologist and get done chest x ray.
