CT scan report came back and I m hoping you can tell me what this means. CT was done due to chronic sinisitis Findings: There is mild circumferential polypoid soft tissue thickening of the bilateral maxillary sinuses, more pronounced on the right. There is minimal diffuse mucosal thickening of the ethmoid sinuses. The frontal and sphenoid sinuses are clear. There are no air-fluid levels. The ostiomeatal units are patent. There is mild leftward nasal septal deviation. The soft tissues are unremarkable. There are no concerning incidental intracranial findings. Impression 1. Mild circumferential polypoid soft tissue thickening of the maxillary sinuses and minimal generalized mucosal thickening of the ethmoid sinuses. The major sinus drainage pathways are patent. 2. No concerning incidental intracranial findings.
Hi. Thanks for your query. Good that your CT scan shows only few positive findings. These are the Maxillary sinuses are showing round shadows and due to mucosal hypertrophy- this responds well to steroids. Similar thickening of of the lining of the ethmoid sinuses and this too responds well to the oral steroids, rest of the sinuses are normal. Mild deviation of the septum does not need surgery unless there is blockage of the airway. So do not worry take a 3 week course of oral steroids in tapering dosages, antihistamine, multivitamin and you will be fine.
