Hey, i have been suffering from a sore throat for just over a week and today my voice completely went. I get the same situation about twice a year and have been getting it for the last ten years or so. I ve been putting it down to changes in temperature, but should i go and see my doctor?
As per your query you have chronic sore throat and you also completely lost your voice . Well there can be many reason for symptoms you mention in query like upper respiratory track infection ,which can occur due to bacterial or viral infection , viral pharyngitis , acid reflux , laryngitis and post nasal drip . Sometimes infection from upper respiratory track get spread down the respiratory track specially when left untreated or due to low immunity . I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper diagnosis without any delay otherwise infection will reach trachea or lungs . Doctor may order throat swab test , viral culture test and blood test . Doctor may prescribe antibacterial or ntiviral at least for 0 days along with anti inflammatory and decongestant . Doctormay also refer you to gastroenterologist if problem is related wirh acid reflux . For now do warm saline gargles several times a day and apply warm compresses to throat externally .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
