I had mumps after puberty and now (in my 60s) suffer from Chronic Testicular Pain. I have seen several doctors and none has resolved my pain issue. I would like to have my testicles removed to end this problem, but no doctors want to help me with this. I am an adult. Why can t I get this done?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted your history of mumps after puberty and now getting chronic testicular pain.
In spite of consulting many Doctors, none could resolve your problems. You would like to have removal of the testes to end the problem of pain.
There are few issues I would like to point out:
- No Surgeon would remove testes for the pain which is not diagnosed well till now and it looks that no one knows the reasons for the pain or since this is a vial organ, no one would touch testes unless there is such a condition called irreversible epididymo-orchitis where the medical treatment has failed.
- Second issue is about mumps. If you have had children mumps has no issues to do with the present problems. If mumps has caused orchitis, the testis have NO testicular sensation or pain.Hence the present problem is not related to the mumps in childhood.
- Third issue is about getting the correct diagnosis:
I would advise you the following:
Consult a Senior Urologist for clinical evaluation and investigations to get a proper diagnosis and to treat you accordingly.
It may possibly be bilateral epididymo-orchitis or nerve pinching from spine to the testes. You Doctor may advise you further investigations for proper diagnosis and treatment.

I find this answer helpful
