Suggest Treatment For Chronic Vomiting After Eating
I have a female neutered cat about 6 yrs. old who periodically vomits after eating. Some days she is fine, no vomiting, and other days she vomits 3-4 times after a meal. She will go weeks sometimes with no problems. I have had to move her and her sister cat into a different area of the house because of some renovations. I am wondering if it could be the stress of different and smaller surroundings causing her distress. She is an indoor cat and never gets outside. She also has a habit of licking plastic sheeting.
Hello and Welcome My! A veterinary question. Let me give you a few ideas. If she is a long hair cat she may be swallowing hair balls. Give her hair ball treats to get the hair out which still may involve vomiting but the at will feel better.
More than likely she is reacting to something from the plastic sheeting & it must be kept away from her. Each reexposure to a toxic or allergenic substance will worsen symptoms. If this is the case you may want to consult abet about a toxicology test.
If the plastic sheeting is not the culprit is it the food? Lactose intolerant? Chewing or swallowing problems? More observation and information will help to get at the root of your cat's issue with vomiting.
Keep track of cats weight weekly if possible
Hope this has given you some ideas Regards Kathy J Shattler,MS,RDN
