My right ear was feeling gummed-up so I applied hydrogen peroxide using an ear bulb syringe. Not sure what happened next, but it felt and and sounded like a volcano-like eruption in my ear canal. When i tipped my ear to let it drain, nothing would come out. I think because I used too much peroxide and didn t mix it with water it dislodged too much wax at one time. Anyway, this resulted in a plugged up ear, and some pain. The MD prescribed neomycin polymyxin HC and said if I still had problem after that to use Debrox (carbamide peroxide) ear wax removal. At the time, I actually could not get the prescription because my information in the database was incorrect and this would take a few days to correct. After a couple days, there was no pain and the ear was getting less and less plugged. Finally my question - Do i really need to use neomycin, an antibiotic, if there is no pain, and instead just use something to dissolve/clean the wax. If so, is the carbamide peroxide the way to go?
