Hello there, I understand your concern regarding your mother's problem. High sugars lead to blurring of vision as the lens in the eye gets engorged with water due to high sugars (osmotic effect). Blurring of vision could also be due to cataracts. Also high sugars affect the retina (nerve part of the eye) but usually retinal damage does not affect the vision initially. None of this can be treated with eye drops. First thing is that blood sugars need to be controlled to reduce the symptoms of blurred vision. An ophtlamologist (eye specialist) needs to evaluate her eyes to find the exact cause of her blurred vision. Also please take her to a diabetologist who can suggest treatment to control blood sugars after a thorough examination and blood tests. Please do not ignore as these are preventable causes of blindness. Hope this helps. Take care.
