Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My grandson is 13 and weighs 124 kg. he goes to the toilet up to 6 times a day to pass stools . Is this normal. His mother has been di agonised with coeliac disease about 4 years ago? He also has Asperger s syndrome, and iam finding it almost impossible to stop him from eating, to the point where we have to lock the cupboards at night. Do you think a colonosphy at this point in time might be the answer.
Hello! Thanks for putting your query in HCM. I am a Gastroenterologist (DM).
I appreciate your concers regarding your grandson. To cofirm whether he is suffering from celiac diseasse or not he should undergo blood test like anti tissue transglutaminase antibody levels and endoscopy with duodenal biopsy. Colonoscopy is not useful for diagnosing celiac disease.
I hope I have answered your query and this will help you. If you have any further query I will be happy to answer that too. Remain in touch and get-well soon.
