Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I know someone who had a sex headache and is a teenager he described it as throbbing, and the extreme pain only lasted 2 minutes and then it was just throbbing during the headache he did not experience any feeling of nausea or vomiting the only medication he is taking is ADHD medicine he remembers things and is able to exercise go to the bathroom without any feeling of this headache apparently his father has had experiences with sex headaches before this person has anxiety and is worried should he be scared?
Coital Cephalalgia is also called a sexual headache. Some individuals suffer such type of throbbing headache during sexual activity just before orgasm. The headache lasts for few minutes only but it cause significant distress and embarrassment during sexual activity. In most cases increased weight is one of main reason for such symptoms.
I would advise him to reduce the weight so that the frequency reduces. Apart from this for severe headache abstaining from sexual activity for some weeks is advised. If even after that symptoms persist then medicines like Betablockers as Propranolol can prove useful. The drug would help in reducing the symptoms during sex. Amitryptiline is also found to be useful in some cases. Consult a psychiatrist for prescription.
Thanks, hope this helps you.
