Hi! I've has a cold sore (or what i think its a cold sore, never had one before) for 8 days already. It seems its getting worse and growing! I've been putting abreva but its not really doing anything. I've also been taking lysine pills and nothing. I haven't left my house in 8 days!!! what should i do besides seeing a doctor. I'll be going to the doctor on Mon. but thats 2 days from now. Thanks.

As per your complain cold sores can occur in the form of clusters of fluid filled bumps.. It is a viral infection caused by Herpes Simplex Virus 1 and it is self limiting and resolves in a period of 2 weeks or less.. As it is 2 weeks and it is still growing, there are chances that it is either due to bacterial infection or hair follicle infection or folliculitis.. As of now you can apply antibiotic ointment over it and do cool compresses.. I would suggest you to consult a Dermatologist or a general physician and get evaluated and only after a clinical evaluation treatment can be planned accordingly..
