Suggest Treatment For Cold With Swallowing Difficulty

i recently started getting a cold, and last night i couldnt sleep a wink because of excessive saliva in my mouth causing me to feel like im drowning if i do not swallow. Its very annoying and its the first time it has happened for such a long period of time. Is there any medications i can take besides the obvious cold medicine?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I would recommend to continue cold medicine together with frequent gargling with warm water and salt. If still no improvement should consult with your caring doctor to get a physical exam to rule out secondary bacterial infection.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
