Otolaryngologist / ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hi,

Your son might be suffering from congested pharynx and larynx.
General advice:
1. avoid cold foods & beverages
2. give warm milk with turmeric powder - a teaspoon in a glassful of milk
3. give steam inhalation.
4. you may give motrin (4-10 mg / kg / dose / repeat only after 6-8 hours) SOS if it pains more but be cautious not to use too frequent and for too long.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Himanshu Dhanak, Otolaryngologist / ENT Specialist
