Suggest Treatment For Congestive Heart Failure

My dad is 89 yrs. old, has had a stroke 3 years ago, diabetic, being treated for sleep apnea. Just started with a cold a few days ago; tonight, couldn t breathe so was rushed to the hospital - diagnosis: congestive heart failure. His lungs are full of fluid which they are trying to remove. What would be a probable prognosis?

Cardiologist 's  Response
Hello! Thank you for asking on HCM! Regarding your concern I would explain that in you dad case, his prognosis will be influenced principally from his cardiac function impairment ( LVEF), and other cardiac parameters as well, in conjunction with other organs involvement (brain, lung, liver, kidney, etc) Diabetes left untreated properly, may cause severe cardiac, renal as well as other organs dysfunction. If the patient shows a satisfactory response to diuretics and other treatment the short prognosis is good, but remain to determine the long prognosis based on the above mentioned indices. If you supply medical conclusions and test reports I would give a more precise response.
Hope to have been helpful to you. Greetings! Dr. Iliri
