I have continuing Chest pain for about a year now. I am seeing a cardiologist. I am thin, do not smoke or drink, and Echo cardiogram, plus lab work and four Ekgs are normal. I am having a stress test tomorrow. The pain is really affecting my life. I do have elevated BP and cholesterol for which I am taking meds. I am seeing a psychiatrist in case it is stress but I do not believe it is. I am happy in my life and job. Any ideas?
Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic. I can understand your concern. Possibility of Coronary artery disease (CAD) is more on your case. You are having high blood pressure and Cholesterol, so you are at high risk for CAD. Ecg s can be normal even if you have CAD. And therefore stress test is important in your case. In this tests, physical stress (trademil running) is applied and continuous ecg is recorded. If ecg changes are present in stress test than you need to get done coronary Angiography to know the severity of blockage in coronaries. So better to first get done stress test and if needed coronary Angiography to rule out CAD in your case. Hope I have solved your query. Wish you good health. Thanks.
