I have a constant post nasal drip and a constant cough. I had allergy testing done 25 years ago and wasn't allergic to anything. Last year I had sinaplasty surgery and still have same problem. What type dr do I need to go see an allergy, ent or back to sinus dr.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

If you had a surgery & you have the same problems again means that your sinusitis did not respond to the surgery, else you could have got relieve. However, get re-examined & report your symptoms to the treating doctor, you need medications. You may have to get an nasal X-ray done to diagnose the problem. Chronic cough is an indicator of some developing lung dysfunction, bronchitis or COPD. Get sputum examination & other investigations done, get treated. Presently, take antihistamines & Cefuroxime & multivitamin supplements for relief.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

For your problem initially you can consult otorhinolaryngologist for examination. For post nasal drip you can be prescribed levocetirizine 5 milligram once a day for five days. Oxymetazoline nasal drop can be used for 2 to 3 days for symptomatic relief. You can check your CBC and if absolute eosinophil count is more than 400 then anti allergic medication like montelukast can be prescribed. Steam inhalation can be done three times a day and salt water gargle will be beneficial. So hope this information will be beneficial to you and you can consult otorhinolaryngologist for your examination.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
