Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
hi,my son is 2yr old. He is going through constipation problem for last 7 months. He passed hard stool sometimes with blood. He also don t sit down for stool b coz now he is afraid of that. My pediatrician suggested me EVA-Q syrup. But the problem solved for few days only. Now many people suggest me to give creamffin syrup. i would like to know whether this syrup has got any side effects and i can give this syrup for a long time. plz advise me.
I understand your concern. A child with constipation is not a happy child. Cremaffin is ok to use in children and babies but only occasionally and NOT for long term use. The reason for this is that Cremaffin contains liquid paraffin, which, with regular use can inhibit the absorption of some vitamins in bowel. For a long term solution, I recommend you adjust your child's diet to one containing more fiber (more fruit and vegetables), more water and less sugary drinks. Also, if the child is potty trained, putting them on the potty in regular intervals is very important in training the bowel.
Wishing you all the best
