A week ago I suffered from diarrhea and vomiting. I thought this may have been just a stomach bug. However, I have been extremely constipated since and was just able to pass a few small stools for the first time yesterday. They appeared abnormal, being that they were covered with a thick yellow mucus. I am constantly feeling the urge to pass stool however, I strain just to pass gas. Should I consider seeing my physician?

I would like further information to help you better since how long you are having this problem your complete medical history like history of any disease like diabetes or any other chronic illness
at the outset i would advise you following guidelines have plenty of dietary fibers in diet like whole grains, fresh fruits like papaya and citrus fruits have plenty of fluids 3 to 4 liters a day regular bowel habits at least twice daily, even if you are not felling to defecate just visit the restroom you can do abdominal exercise by moving the belly in and out slowly
