Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
stool has to be removed manually. This began approx. 2 yrs. ago after two surgeries and a partial hysterectomy for prolapsed bladder. After the hysterectomy my Doc told me that I had an impaction and I spent an xtra day (in hospital) trying to relieve this. I still had not had a bowel movement when i was discharged. I drank & swallowed various medications to help relieve the problem. When the nite nurse came on we spent the from 11 pm to 6 am using water & soap suppository insertion. As I said nothing worked. I have had difficulty w/ constipation for majority of my life. I take several meds & have b-12 shots every other week, (1000mcg?).
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history and understood the concerns. Need to remove stool manually after 2 pelvic surgery indicates that there might have been trauma to the nerves in the pelvis thus causing the immobility of the colon and rectum. This can be diagnosed by the following> First of all you need to get the bowel cleansed properly under medical supervision and then to go for Colonoscopy and CT scan of abdomen. You have to consult a Gastroenterologist for manometry study and may be biopsy. This needs the care of a specialised center and proper long-term management. Be on a liquid diet at the moment. Take care.
