Can costochondritis cause an EKG to be abnormal or is it more likely paracarditis. All lab work isnormal and there is no damage of any kind to the heart muscle. Worked up for both and then told it was costochondritis, but I am concernced because my EKG was abnormal.
Hello dear, thanks for your question on HCM. Costochondritis never cause ecg abnormality. So if you are having ecg abnormalities with chest pain, even with normal blood reports, I will advise you to consult cardiologist and get done 1. Repeat ecg 2. 2d echo 3. Stress test. To rule out cardiac cause. If all these are normal then no need to worry much for cardiac cause and abnormal ecg. So consult cardiologist and discuss all these.
