Hi,
Noted your history about having hoarse coughing, white chalking phlegm, more so in the night, was given Zertec.
As per your short history following is the possibility:
If this is short term problem then this is due to upper
respiratory tract problem which can be due to
allergy or so but caused more inflammation hence the phlegm.
White color usually indicates no infection hence it is best to send the phlegm for lab for gram staning, for AFB that is acid fast bacilli due to
tuberculosis if the cough is for a long time.
Also get X-ray of chest done.
Consult your Doctor again for review clinically, go for lab tests of blood.
Addition of anti-inflammatory medicines,
steroid and decongestant with
mucolytic agents can help you a lot.
Steam inhalation helps liquefy the mucus.
Avoid too hot or too cold weather.
Take warm liquids.
Continue the medicines as per the findings and advise of your Doctors.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, ENT and General Surgeon
