You are right about antibiotics.
Cough and cold are viral 95% of the times in children. They do not warrant antibiotics unless there is
pneumonia or a rapid streptococcal antigen test is positive. Especially Zifi or
Cefixime is useless in respiratory infections.
For cold you can use anti-allergics like
cetirizine and for nose block, saline nasal decongestants will do. You can use
Paracetamol fo rfever at 15mg/kg/dose if temperature is more than 100F.
