I was laughing during lunch and felt like I sucked food into my nose and lungs. I was coughing a lot. I am coughing less now but feel irritated a bit still and still feel like something is in my throat. I read online about aspiration pneumonia and am afraid that if I do have food in my lung I will get this.
Hi. Thanks for your query. Well, if the food would have been in your food pipe, you would not have been in a position to write this on the net. This indicates that there may be irritation and all the food material must came out with the initial bouts of coughing. Nasal regurge also behaves in the same way.
To be on safer side, get clinical evaluation , Examination and investigations about Chest and nose. Once found normal , your anxiety would go down. Till then you may please symptomatic treatment: - steam inhalations - Antibiotic cover and anti-inflammatory medicines - cough syrup
I hope this answer helps you.
