Suggest Treatment For Cough & Asthma

Hi Dr,my 2yr old son,has been having irritating cough,then later on will have an asthma attact is it save to give him Ascoril expectorant syrup.and he has been having an attact it s every month since February this year...won t miss any month till today...please help

Hello,

Thank you for asking at HCM.

I went through your son's history and would like to make suggestions for you as follows:

1. Were I treating your son, I would suggest him daily montelukast for at least 3 months.

2. I would suggest him allergy testing which will help you identifying allergies, if any.

3. I would also suggest him avoidance of dusts, smokes and air pollution as much as possible.

4. A healthy diet rich in vitamins and minerals will help improve his immunity and prevent repeated infections. Please make sure that his hemoglobin is maintained around 13-14 g%, it is also important for immunity.
