My doctor sad that I have asthma. He has treated me for forty years. Even though I have been on Atrovent hfa and asmanex. Last week afeter Christmas I woke up in the midle of the night with a cough that felt like knife in my chest. The doctor put me prednisone again. What causes this? I have no fever.
Hello As you are taking treatment for asthma for 40 years ( atrovent and asmanex ) . Last weeks you had sever cough in the middle of night , doctor advise steroid (prednisolone ). In my opinion such symptoms may be due to these reasons , these include: 1 COPD ( CONGESTIVE OBSTRUCTIVE PULMONARY DISEASE ). 2 Asthmatic attack due to sever allergy . Sometimes an old asthmatic patient feel such symptoms . 3 Cor pulmonale . These symptoms in your case may be due to above mentioned disease and this is common in an old asthmatic patient . So consult a pulmonologist and sort out this problem. Good luck.
