Suggest Treatment For Cough With Frothy Glue Like Substance
My husband constantly coughs up a thick sticky frothy glue like substance. He had a stroke a year ago and worked hard at getting back his health but we both feel this constant cough has deteriated his health. He is on Walfrin now to hopefully prevent a further stoke. He is 71 years, 73 kilos and about 5'8" and has also had a valve implant.
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic. I can understand your concern. History of CV stroke predispose him for aspiration pneumonia. And this is the likely cause for coughing and frothy expectoration. So better to consult pulmonologist for him and get done 1. Clinical examination of respiratory system 2. Chest x ray. Chest x ray is must for the confirmation of aspiration pneumonia. He will need higher antibiotics, antihistamine and anti inflammatory drugs. Don't worry, he will be alright. First diagnose himself and then start appropriate treatment. Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wishing good health to your husband. Thanks.
