Recovering from h1n1. Started coughing up slightly pink froth and now that most symptoms have subsided I wake up in the mornings and cough up large quantities of bright red blood. Once my lungs are clear, there is no more coughing for the rest of the day. I had a 5 day course of zpac. Was prescribed a 5 day course of levoquine that I refused due to its dangerous nature. Will the bleeding stop? My fever is gone and I feel almost normal... Just blood in the morning.
Thanks for your question on HCM. I can understand your situation and problem. You are having hemoptysis (blood in sputum). This is not good sign. You had H1N1 infection. So possibility of either bacterial pneumonia or post infectious bronchitis are more. And in both these conditions, hemoptysis seen. So better to consult pulmonologist and get done 1. Clinical examination of respiratory system. 2. Chest x ray 3. PFT (Pulmonary Function Test). Chest x ray is needed to rule out lung infection (pneumonia). PFT is needed to rule out bronchitis. So consult pulmonologist and discuss all these. First diagnose yourself and then start appropriate treatment.
