Hello,

Thank you for contacting me at "Ask a Doctor". I will try to answer your question to the best of my ability.

It is difficult to say exactly what you're problem is without examining you. But there are a few possibilities. Certainly, you could be experiencing cramping in the muscles of the lower leg and feet. Doing some regular exercise and stretching can certainly help with this. Some people like to take quinine for cramps which can help.

Sometimes if you not wear appropriate, well supporting footwear this will cause pain in the arches of your feet. Wearing some well supported shoes can help this problem. Sometimes it means, placing an arch support inside your shoes. You can buy these from the local pharmacy.

If you have a primary care physician. I would suggest seeing them if the condition worsens. They will need to check the nerves and blood vessels in your feet. Sometimes in these particular circumstances I will have my patients see a podiatrist.

I hope this information is useful for you. Please do not hesitate to message us back if you have any further questions.

Best wishes and good luck.
