Hi. My 22 month has been having croup since last November. A few weeks ago he got it again. It went. Away but allergy symptoms stay. He is on Zyrtec which has helped most symptoms. Problem is he has been coughing all day and all night consistently for about a month now. It started by him just coughing when he was outside. Now it has progressed to be far worse. He can t sleep because he can t stop coughing.
Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic. I can understand your concern. By your history and description, in my opinion, your son is having either cough variant asthma or allergic bronchitis. So better to consult pediatrician and get done clinical examination of respiratory system for wheezing or rhonchi. Zyrtec is having levocetrizine. It is antihistamine. Along with this anti allergic drug , inhaled bronchodilators and inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) are useful in such cases. Since all these drugs are prescribed medicines, you need doctor 's prescription for them. So better to first diagnose him and then start appropriate treatment. Hope I have solved your query. Wishing good health to your son. Thanks.
