Suggest Treatment For Cyst In Ovary With Larger Uterus

I recently had my yearly pap smear and the dr did an ultrasound and found that I had a cyst on my left ovary and my fibroids had grown larger and my uterus was larger too. Should I be concerned. I have a lot of pressure and it feels like someone is sitting on my bladder.

Hi thanks for writing to HCM.
The two concerns on your ultrasound are-
1. Ovarian cyst- management depends on the size and morphology.
Small simple cysts can be followed on ultrasound- usually rupture spontaneously.
But if your cyst is larger and complex it will need removal.

2. Fibroids- these usually tend to grow slowly until menopause.
Treatment ranges from no treatment to medicines/procedures, depending upon presence of symptoms.

Another important aspect I would like to consider is your age and if you are menopausal, as the possibility of malignancy increases with age.

As you have developed pressure symptoms now, I would suggest you talk to your gynecologist about it, and discuss the various treatment options available to you.
Hope I have helped you understand the problem.
Do write in if you have doubts.
Wish you good health.
