I Have had a cyst on both of my ovaries for at least 2 years, in the past three months or so I have had, severe pain in my pelvic area..an internal ultrasound confirmed that the cysts still exist. Should I be worried that they have not dissolved yet and are now causing pain? My gyno wants to do a bilateral oophectomy (sp?) and even perhaps a hysterectomy...I am unsure of what to do...
Pain may be due to ovarian cysts.Generally ovarian cysts need only follow up but if there is any complications like enlargement in size, pain or infection then surgical removal can be considered. You may also need tumour markers before surgery. Choice of treatment depend upon many things like age, symptoms, family is completed or not. Your gynecologist will guide you.
