Suggest Treatment For Cystic Nodule In The Lower Pole
I was operated on may 2012 for hemithyroidectomy bcoz thr was a solitary cystic nodule in the lower pole. I was advised 2 take eltroxin 50mcg..bcoz of the unavailability of eltroxin medication I started takin thyronorm 50mcg for the last 1 and half year. Is there any significant difference btwn t 2 medications. ..is it going 2 have adverse effect on my health????
Hi, Welcome to HCM. I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
Both Eltroxin and Thyronorm are same They are just 2 companies marketing same medication - levo thyroxine. Just like Dolo and Calpol for paracetamol.
Once on these medications, you have to check your thyroid function every 3-6 months. If your thyroid function tests are normal on thyroxine, then you can continue same dose If not you have to increase or decrease the dose after consulting your physician. There is no significant adverse effects if you are taking this medication in correct dose.
Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help With warm regards, Dr Ajish TP (MD,DM) Consultant Endocrinologist.
