Suggest Treatment For Cystitis Cystica Glandularis

Hi Doctor, Last year my husband had found some blood in his first morning urine. He went for USG and found a stone in his left kidney. Also in the USG and CT it was found that there is a thickening in the trigone Area of the bladder. He was prescribed for a cystoscopy. Doctors had performed the same and took out materials from various parts of the bladder wall and send for biopsy and it was verified at 2 different renowned pathological lab that it was NOT malignant and they diagnosed it as Cystitis Cystica Grandularis. He never had any pain anywhere not even for the stone. They had put 2 staints in both the ureters. Then exactly after 2 months they performed a second cystoscopy and removed both the staints. Miraculously they found that his bladder was completely cured and there was no sign of that disease. Again this year on 1st Jan 2015, again little blood came in his morning urine. Do let me know what could be the possible reason and what do we do now.

Urologist 's  Response
Cystitis cystica glandularis is a benign condition known to recur. With recurrent hematuria, possibility of it's recurrence is there. Cystoscopy follwed by removal of the tumour should help. Besides Cystoscopy would also help to evaluate all areas of bladder to see if any other tumor has come up. Thereafter he will require surveillance Cystoscopy regularly at 3 monthly interval to look for any early recurrence and fulguration of the same.
