My son has a ruptured ear drum which has resulted in hearing loss; this is a particular problem as he already has reduced hearing in his other ear due to damaged ossicles. He is worried about whether exercise will hinder the healing of the perforation, thus slowing the return of the hearing - please could you advise?
Thanks for asking in healthcaremagic forum I understand your problem. Ear ossicles are the main propogatory channel for the sound to travel from outer ear to inner ear. Tympanic membrane(ear drum) rupture takes time to heal and you need to take precautions like keeping ear clean and dry always for it to heal and exercise will not hamper its healing. If ossicles are disrupted then, it is unlikely that it heals on itself. So, please visit your ENT doctor for possible reconstructive surgery for ossicle disruption. All the best.
