Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here... I am looking for a cream to fade dark marks which have appeared on my face caused by taking the pill over a long period, seen a cream called glycovira on ebay, also product containing glycolic acid. Any other creams you can suggest?
Hello. Thank you for writing to us at healthcaremagic
You seem to have developed Melasma, which commonly presents as a brownish hyperpigmentation of malar prominences of cheek and dorsum of nose. Birth control pills are a well known cause of Melasma. Glycolic acid is a good choice for this condition. It helps exfoliate the excess pigment. This pigmentation may respond to various other pigment reducing agents like Kojic acid, Azaleic acid, Hydroquinone etc. These agents inhibit new melanin synthesis and therefore together with glycolic acid they have an additive effect. Sun protection is an essential part of treatment of facial hyperpigmentation and therefore it is recommended to use a broad spectrum sunscreen, throughout the day. I suggest you to visit a dermatologist for an assessment. Your dermatologist might also suggest you to undergo a few sessions of chemical peeling in addition to the topical treatment. Glycolic peel is particularly useful in melasma,
