Hello. Thank you writing to us at healthcaremagic
Most likely she has developed irritation to the topical product that you have been using.
This product contains
tazarotene, which belongs to the class of topical retinoids.
Retinoids are very effective in controlling acne because of there comedolytic properties, however, they are irritants and can cause redness and skin peeling as side effects.
Tazarotene is the most irritant among all topical retinoids and is usually not advisable for use on face.
Adapalene and tretinoin are usually the ones that are used for acne because they are less irritant and therefore can be used on face.
For Irritation due to tazarotene, I suggest she may use a mild
topical steroid e.g
cortisone, twice daily for 5-7 days. That should take care of the irritation.
I suggest you seek another appointment with a
dermatologist. Your dermatologist might well replace tazarotene with one of the less irritant options like either Adapalene Or Tretinoin.
Another option is that you may use this product as a "short contact therapy" daily (just 2 hours every night) Or use it every alternate night.
