Suggest Treatment For Debilitating Itching In Lower Half Of Body
I am a type 2 Diabetic with a blood sugar range in the 120-180 mg/dl. When I get over that value I have started suffering from a very strong and debilitating itching on my legs, thighs and buttocks. This has reach the intensity that in some cases I can perform my work duties. My question(s): Could this itching be related to re-lnopathy? If it s renopahy is is permanent? And what are the potential treatments for this condition? I have tried anti-histaminic and multiple creams/lotions with no long term positive results
hi. i have read your question and understand your concern.
diabetes patients can develop itching specially over legs even without the involvement of kidneys. so to answer your first question: no. this itching is not necessarily due to renopathy. although if you do have renal involvement, it will worsen the itch.
i suggest you get the following tests to rule out renopathy: blood urea serum creatinine
as far as treatment options are concerned, antihistamines are the first line along with emolients like aveeno cream. if no improvement you can apply mild steroid like beclomethasone lotion along with aveeno.
hope this helps. for any further questions please get back to us. thanks.
