Suggest Treatment For Delay In Development Of An 8 Month Old
My granddaughter is 8 months old and doesn t rollover, sit up , crawl or stand. She is the same weight she was at six months. She smiles, grabs for things - does not giggle? She is breastfed and starting to eat fruits and vegetables pureed. She sleeps well and seems content - doesnt not like to be more than a few feet from Mom or dad - definitely makes strange - she cries and screams. Any ideas what it could be - her next appointment is not for a month. Last appointment parents told only she is on the smallest percentile.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
1. She is not gaining weight.
2. Weaning has been started.
3. She has stranger anxiety but doesn't rollover/sit up. She is too young for crawling and standing. However, I don't know what is the actual weight of the child as of now, so it will be useful to share actual weight. There is need of increasing her intake . Give her smashed vegetables, porridge (half a bowl each times,3 times a day).
Does she speak anything? If she doesn't then there is need of urgent consultation to your doctor.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
