Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am sufferring from depression for 5yrs taken lots of antidep given by pysitrist like escitralopam but that does not helped. I have insomnia and taken alprax, lorazepam, clonazepam and many more but they don't helped so i stoped all my sleeping pills. Please help my age is 25
You are 25 and have depression since last 5 years. Anti depressants like escitalopram didnt help. For sleep you took benzodiazepines like lorazepam, clonazepam, alprazolam etc which were stopped later. As you have depression and also insomnia as main problem in such case medicines like Paroxetine, Mirtazapine etc can prove useful. These medicines are good anti depressants and have sedative effects which will help in providing good sleep. These are safe to use and free of side effects. Consult your psychiatrist for prescription of these medicines.
Apart from this, follow a healthy life style. Exercise daily for at least one hour, sleep for at least 7 hours, have diets rich in Complex carbs, proteins, B12 and low in fats. These changes help to supplement the medicines effect.
I went through your details. You are just 25 and you are already worrying about your condition. You have a lot of life to move on. Please understand, if you do not become active in your life, depression and stress over powers you and you naturally loose sleep. If you do not change your life style, no drugs can help you with your sleep. Doctors will have no choice other than to increase your dosage but there is a limit for it too. My sincere advise will be to do strictly hard jogging and exercises for one hour every day and try to be active throughout the day. Automatically even your stress, anxiety and depression cannot disturb your sleep because your body is so tired.
