Suggest Treatment For Diarrhea And Burning Sensation In Esophagus
Hi Just ate some watermelon about 3 hours ago and I have had diarrhea ever since and it's painful it feels like its burning. If I tighten up to use the restroom it hurts but if I am relaxed it just flows can you tell me what to do and it hurts in my esophagus
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Watermelon is known to give gastroenteritis due to the source where it is cultivated. Since your problem of diarrhea started within 3 hours of having it, it is certainly gastroenteritis as you have burning in esophagus too indicating gastritis and GERD.
I would advise you the following in such a situation: • Consult your doctor immediately or visit ER. • Get a course of an antibiotic, metronidazole, probiotics and a PPI like Pantoprazole along with an antacid.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. T Chandrakant
