Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, my child is 6 months old and has an illeostomy since 1 week old. He has been great with it but at the moment he is experiencing bad diarrhea. He's fine in himself but quite worried. Is their anything to help him? I may also mention that over the weekend we've all had a bad sickness bug. Thanks
Greetings, you didn't mention about why was ileostomy performed. anyways, the best way to treat diarrhoea is to start giving ORS. normally mostly diarrhoea is viral i origin and therefore antibiotics should be reserved only for later. ORS after reconstitution should be given in 10ml/kg of body weight. and this should help him. you need not give all at once...should try to feed him with spoon. hope all this has helped. thanks and regards.
