HELLO MY NAME IS DENISE I WENT ON A TRIP TO MEXICO ON MAY 5 ON MAY 8 I STARTED TO GET REALLY BAD DIARRHEA I DID MAKE SURE NOT TO USE THE WATER THERE WELL I CALLED MY DOCTOR ON THE 11 OF MAY AND TOLD HER I DSTLL HAVE IT REALLY BAD IT IS LIKE WATER SHE TOLD ME TO ONLY TO HAVE LIQUID FOODS TO SAY THE LEST TO DAY IS THE 17 OF MAY AND I STILL HAVE IT REALLY BAD SHOULD I GO TO THE HOSPITAL I AM NOT SURE WHAT TO DO THANK YOU
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history of a trip to Mexico on May 5 and developed watery diarrhea on May 8 - today is May 17 and still have watery diarrhea. You history indicates that this may be a bacterial diarrhea and I would advise you the following: Consult a Doctor for clinical evaluation, examination and investigations of stool and blood to find out the cause of diarrhea. Get started n proper antibiotic and metronidazole to get a control over infection. Add on probiotics, activated charcoal tablets and Electrolyte solutions to replace the fluid and electrolyte deficiency. Complete the course and have added treatment as per the reports of the investigations.
