I have a broadbased disk bulge with left posterolateral protrusion causing mild impingement on the traversing left s1 nerve root. I have had a CT guided nerve root sleeve injection with a limited amount of success. I am a bricklayer,what are the mechanical dynamics that are needed to be out into effect so as to have the disk bulge reduce? Bending,stretching? Which way? Etc.

hi.., your disc is protruded and compression on the nerve root, if your symptoms are hampering your job or daily activities it is advisable to undergo surgery to removal the protruded disc. If its not causing any symptoms then you have to do physiotherapy regularly to strengthen the core back muscles and abdominal muscles. now answer to your question - a protruded disc will not reduce back to normal but can be prevented from further protruding by physiotherapy and avoiding lifting weights and squatting. your physiotherapy are to strengthen the core back muscles and abdominal muscles to support the spine there by preventing spinal pathology.
