Suggest Treatment For Disc Herniation

Hello,
I have Disc Herniation between L3-L4 & L4-L5. CT scan report says that there is 3mm protrusion of the disc with spinal canal. I am advised to go for Microdiscectomy surgery. Please advise if any other treatment can help me other than the surgery.
Thanks & regards.

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
hi,
whether you require surgery or not depends not on your reports but your symptoms. if you are having some weakness of your legs( neurological deficit) u definitely require surgery. if there is only radiating pain from your back down to your leg you can try conservative treatment first in the form of muscle relaxant and analgesic, a combination of pregabalin+ methcobalamin, physiotherapy like SWD/IFT and back extension exercises and following proper back posture. however if you already tried these and are suffering from a long time then the next line of management is surgery.
regards
