Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, I have Disc Herniation between L3-L4 & L4-L5. CT scan report says that there is 3mm protrusion of the disc with spinal canal. I am advised to go for Microdiscectomy surgery. Please advise if any other treatment can help me other than the surgery. Thanks & regards.
hi, whether you require surgery or not depends not on your reports but your symptoms. if you are having some weakness of your legs( neurological deficit) u definitely require surgery. if there is only radiating pain from your back down to your leg you can try conservative treatment first in the form of muscle relaxant and analgesic, a combination of pregabalin+ methcobalamin, physiotherapy like SWD/IFT and back extension exercises and following proper back posture. however if you already tried these and are suffering from a long time then the next line of management is surgery. regards
