Suggest Treatment For Discharge From Ear With Grommets
i have grommet inserted 5 years ago both ears, i had couple of infections during the years but the ant biotics take care of it, recent i seen the doctor and told me my grommets are blocked and give me some drops, but i am afraid it got worse, and the grommet went way inside the ear and can hardly hear anything on my left. and dischard coming out especially when wake up.
Noted your history of grommets in ears for 5 ears, recurrent infections treated with antibiotics. The gromets are not to be kept so long as one has to get well treated for long time to get the eustachian tube working well and normally so that grommets become unnecessary. Secondly, if there is recurrent infection in the ears means you have to get proper investigations like pus for culture, sensitivity and gram staining as well as for tuberculosis. Tests of blood for CBC and diabetes. CT scan of mastoids.
If there is mastoiditis then you need the proper surgery and post-operative care to get the problems cured. Grommets are just temporary relief when the Eustachian tubes are not functioning and not to be kept so long. Hence, get started with proper clinical evaluation, examination, investigations and treatment.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
