Suggest Treatment For Discoloration During Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome
I am a 19 year old female with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. At work I am standing up for several hours and I get bad foot pain. Today, when taking off my shoes, I noticed a dark, fresh bruise and a lot of swelling in a ring around the bone on the inside of my ankle. I didn t notice any acute injuries like a sprain or dislocation. Any ideas on what the bloody discoloration is from and how to treat it?
Hello, I have studied your case and I think that it is most probably ecchymosis. This is discoloration due to accumulation of blood around ankle joint. This can occur due to prolong standing and tight shoes. As you are saying that you did not noticed any injury so most probably it was a trivial incident. I would suggest you to follow these steps. 1.Hot water fomentation. 2.Antibiotics to prevent infection. 3.Compression bandage I hope these steps will be helpful for you. Let me know if there is any other followup questions. thanks
